There’s going to be an eclipse in April. Anyone going to travel to see it?

My dad and his wife are! They wanted us to come, but the thought of traveling with 2 very young children does not sound appealing to me at the moment.

@peppaNmickeyWorld,
Oh this time it's a one-day roadtrip for us, no overnights in hotels or anything. We're making a day of it :)
My only concern is looking into safety with regards to what my kids are looking at.

We probably will. Our friends house is close to the path, so seems like a good excuse for a road trip. They came here for the last one. I don't think we would if we didn't know someone.

We're lucky enough to be right in the path! I guess I should order some eclipse glasses or something for the family before they shoot up in price?

@Marylouwho92,
We used cheap, paper ones in 2017. I'm sure your local stores will start carrying them soon and they certainly won't break the bank.

I would never think to travel to see an eclipse. Not dissing anyone that does, I would just never even think of it. I’ll drive out to the country or dessert just a bit but not like an overnight travel. If we were close enough to just do a little drive it wouldn’t be out of the question though.

@ijustcantthinkofa*goodsn,
We were both temporarily unemployed and loving life for the 2016 eclipse. We took a few days to travel to be right on the line :) and lots of brunching and hiking and general toodley-doodling on the way.
ETA- I would *never* travel more than like 20 minutes to see some sweaty guys run around someone's lawn for 3 hours, and even that 20 minutes you'd have to drag me LOL. But people converge from all over for the Super Bowl. It's about the experience, not the specifics of the event :)

@ijustcantthinkofa*goodsn,
I like stars, sunsets, meteor showers, rainbows but I’ve never had to travel far to see them. I wouldn’t have thought to travel for an eclipse either but no judgement whatsoever for those that do. I would travel for an epic view of northern lights.

@ijustcantthinkofa*goodsn,
DH and I took the day off work for the 2017 one, we only had to travel about 2 hours to see totality. Immediately after, we decided we'd travel to Texas for this one. I don't think I would have considered it had I not seen it already, but now I know it's undoubtedly worth it.

We’re lucky enough to be in the path, so we don’t have to travel. All the hotels around us were booking for crazy amounts that week when they were still available.

Yes. My hometown is in near totality. We traveled for 2016 when my mom was in totality. Looking forward to it.
